Born out of the rebellious Bauhaus design revolution during the 1920s, Bestlite brings functionality and simplicity to the fore. The era sought to break down barriers between practical crafts, industrialisation and fine art and had the greatest influence on 20th century design. Robert Dudley Best's lamp gained prominence in 1930, the first example of Bauhaus in the UK. It achieved worldwide recognition when Winston Churchill placed one on his desk in Whitehall.
